While We Wait: Taming the Legos

Legos make me crazy! We had tote after tote full. They inevitably ended up on the floor. The boys were constantly frustrated that they couldn't find just the one piece they needed. We (mainly I) have been looking for a solution to get the legos under control. When we get our little girl they will need to be inaccessible to little fingers so they don't end up in her little mouth. We also knew the boys will need a good area to build once we rearrange rooms and they lose the dedicated play room. So, here is what we came up with. This is in one side of their closet. We bought hardware bins that Keith mounted on the wall, added expensive countertop and repurposed the light and rolling carts. There are still shelves above for toys and games.

Here is Tyler posing with one of his recent creations.

Anyone have any ideas for taming the kids toys and stuff? Please share.

We put our boys' Legos in one of those containers that goes under the bed with a drawer that slides in and out. It works pretty well, except there's no real place for their creations to go! :) Looks great and I bet the boys love it!

What a great idea! Isn't it nice to have a husband with carpentry skills? And I'm sure the boys think that lego storage/play area in their closet is WAY better than clothes storage :-)
